On Friday, myself and Martin entertained eight lottery winners at the Hilton to a very long and very boozy lunch (for them unfortunately, not us!).
Over a three hour lunch, you can only say “that must be fantastic” so many times and mean it when you are repeatedly reminded that somebody elses savings earn them £374,000 per year IN INTEREST ALONE!
Anyway, this shows that it paid off - Sarah Walters from the Manchester Evening News joined us and on Saturday we saw a double page spread in the MEN (See Manchester Evening News story).
As the repitch for the lottery licence approaches, the MEN is one of Camelot’s key target media titles and they are delighted with the result so well done team - sometimes good old fashioned PR tactics do work!

This week has seen the launch of a new Connectpoint produced website - www.poppickers.com
A joint effort between the PR and Interactive teams, the new Payne’s Poppets campaign site has been created to support promotional activity over the summer months of 2007.
Paynes Poppets (”the deliciously noisy chocs”) are searching for a national Karaoke star. A series of roadshows are being held all over the country, with the best six singers from each of the ten heats being featured on the website.
Visitors to the site can then view streamed video clips of each contestant and rate their performance accordingly. Each Heat winner will be entered into the national final, giving them the chance to win a cool £1000!
And even those voting can get in on the action, by getting the chance to win a year’s supply of Poppets!
Budding Beyonces and Will youngs who couldn’t attend the roadshows are also given the opportunity of entering the competition via Poppets’ new YouTube group. They can upload their Karaoke clips onto the site, where people can comment and discuss the performances.
So make sure you give the site a weekly visit over the coming months to see how talented or otherwise the Poppets Karaoke stars are(n’t).
